I don't know how Gary Larson came up with these cartoons, but I'm sure glad he did. This is just plain silly!
Saw
this in the paper and thought about my Mom. I used to take her out to
eat at Anthony's and one day I was low on gas. "Pull into the next
station," she said, "and I'll put it on my credit card". I'm not sure
what year this was -- and someone might be able to figure it out --
because when I handed her the receipt she declared, "$35 dollars!!
That's more than I paid for my first car!" $50K, interestingly enough,
is about twice what I paid for my little Pacific Beach bungalow in 1972.
I thought for sure we'd seen this 1958 El Cortez photo before, but apparently not. I'm adding it to the one I DID show. Click HERE and pretend you're in the glass elevator.
If Don's Hamburgers had worked a little harder, maybe THEY'D be opening a 4-story restaurant in Las Vegas. (Yes, I was taking pictures of pretty girls while I was still in junior high school)
I
snagged this book off the Apple Books site and was startled to see Dave
Duncan '63 get a mention in the chapter on Tom Seaver. Click HERE to read all about it.
I think Jeannine Berger Passenheim and I can hide our own Easter Eggs. She wondered if anyone had ever mentioned John Muir Elementary or Mohawk Street. I gently pointed out that, in fact, she had done that very thing. Click HERE to take another look.
