December 12, 2025

Below are some headlines that leaped off the page this week from the San Diego Union-Tribune

This is, apparently, GOOD news.  I don't get out much, but I'm told this is about what you now pay when you're treating your family to fine dining at McDonalds.

Non!  Mon dieux!!

I HATE it when that happens!  They don't screen for rabies anymore?

And well he should.  What the hell are soybean holdings?

My old neighbor Caren stopped by this week and I took a picture of her in the Letterman's Jacket Tom Cassie presented to me at the 30th Reunion.  It has 62 on the sleeves and John #1 Alumnus stitched on the front.  Caren has 4 grand-children.  My grandmother looked nothing like that.

Larry Cates '63 passed away at his home in Loveland, Colorado on December 5th.

Steve Pickell ’73 passed away November 22nd.  “Our heart goes out to all who loved our dear Chef Steve Pickell.  Steve came to Bellingham Pasta Company in 2010 as our Executive Chef to help us open up The Table. It was a great fit. He was a wonderful mentor and leader to our whole team. He then returned to us at the end of The Table’s run, in 2015. He touched a lot of folks. Always had a level head and sense of humor. But his great love was his two boys — not to say he didn't like a good meal — but it was best if shared with them.”  (From the Bellingham Pasta Company’s Facebook page)
