I probably should have used one of Steve Cauthen's pictures since he's the one who's sharing his Jackson Elementary class photos, but William Braxton "Joe" Dyke was just too cute in his Cub Scout uniform. Click HERE to see all of the photos.

"They always call him Mr. Football, they always call him Mr. Team. He can run and kick and throw. Give him the ball and just look at him go." OK, you can sit back down now and click on December 15, 1960 Pacer to read about Jim McCorquodale and all sorts of other stuff from the Pacer sold ALMOST 50 YEARS AGO! Aren't you glad you're sitting down?

Janny and Ken Burton '72 post for a photo aboard the Carnival Splendor. It may have been the high point of their trip, but they'll certainly have something to talk about in the years to come. Click HERE to see the photos Ken took -- and a few that I added.

I had to figure this out on my own, but -- apparently -- every Thursday at noon you can go on line and talk baseball with Union-Tribune writer Bill Center '63. I'm pretty sure you have to stick to baseball, so don't go asking him about how he aced Mr. Billings' Chemistry test or his date with Vicki AND Virginia Stack. (You KNOW I'm making this stuff up as I go along, don't you?) Well, not the part about chatting on-line with Bill about baseball. Click HERE -- and wait patiently until next Thursday at noon.
The Crawford Foundation is sponsoring a fundraiser at the Panda Express on 58th and University on Wednesday November 17th from 11 AM to 9 PM. 20 percent of what you spend will go to the foundation -- but I'm pretty sure you have to show up with an official flier. Click HERE to download the flyer. If you can't figure out how to download it, email Victor Perez or Jana Glasgow Ditmars
Three Colts made the Top 50 High School Athletes of the Last 50 Years, published in the October 9th Union-Tribune. One was from the 1960s, one from the 1960s and 1970s, and one from the 1970s. Click HERE when you get tired of guessing.

Tuesday was so spectacular Nancy and I drove out to the Cabrillo Monument and she shot some pictures. When I saw the results I went to my USS Saratoga collection and pulled out a photo from 1932. I was surprised to see it was taken by our friend Lee Passmore, who some of you remember as the Tarantula Man. Click HERE to check out the results.

Crawford made the front page of the U-T last Saturday. Sadly it was the story of the football players who didn't make grades. Still, it was nice story about Homecoming with quotes from #1 Colt Susan Marshall Gordon '64. Click HERE to read it for your own self.
We've finally uploaded the San Diego City Schools Cafeteria Peanut Butter Chews recipe, courtesy of Debra Rogers Park '72. Marcia Williams Carver '76 jumped the gun and whipped up a batch. The verdict? Yummm. Oh -- did you want the recipe? Click HERE.

Lyn Gillis Parker '65 has three great memories of Camp Cuyamaca. Click HERE (and scroll down) to learn what they are. Lyn would also like to gently remind you that it's been three years since her grand-daughter and daughter-in-law were killed in a traffic accident. The foundation Lyn established in their memory has donated $26,000 to charities in Lyn's neck of the woods. Says Lyn, “Thank you for considering a donation & please join us Saturday, October 16th at Santa Fe Park on “Route 66” in Needles for the 2K, 5K and 10K runs, raffles, auctions, games for kids, and community BBQ" Click HERE to learn about the photo at the left. (Lyn's the hottie in the middle) Email Lyn if you have questions.

George Sorensen '69 was in town this week for the dedication of the restored mural his father painted in 1936. The San Diego U-T did a nice article on it. Click HERE to enjoy it. George says he's going to give me a little more warning next trip so we can get together. Perhaps you'd like to join us.
Friends of the late Tony Kent '74 will gather on Sunday to watch the Chargers-Oakland game at Nico's Steak & Chop House, 2015 Birch Road, in Chula Vista. (Hint: It's across from AMC Theaters at Otay Ranch Town Center). The doors open at 11 AM. Contact Kim McGee if you have questions.

Starbucks buddy Ande McCarren had never heard of Mr. Walker and Mr. Wheeler -- and she's riding shotgun while her grand daughter Stephanie Wheeler has her Learner's Permit. Incredibly, you can view this 1950 classic at home -- if you've got a fairly new computer and cable or DSL. Click HERE to enjoy it.
Remember when "Wes" Western '63 shared the 3-D photo of his wife Erin among the flowers at Lake Murray. After a couple of power luncheons in Hollywood it looks like you'll be seeing a lot of Owen's work around. Click HERE to get caught up.

Colin Fort '60 says he was a DMO at the "Circus" Oscar's. That took me back a half century to the scene in "No Time For Sergeants" where Andy Griffith as Will Stockdale proudly announces that he is the barracks PLO. Click HERE to take another look at the Oscar's photo and read what Colin has to say. Click HERE to watch the PLO scene from No Time For Sergeants.
Tuesday's request for Camp Cuyamaca alumni who might want to be on the field at PetCo Park this weekend took me back to Bob Richardson's page of photos and memories. I've added some of the emails received this week AND posted the Camp Palomar songbook and Ken Burton's Camp Marston photo at the top of the Memories Page. Click HERE to go there.
I'm hoping Betty and Bob can figure out this Howard Rozelle photo from 1946-1947. I always thought it was Chula Vista, but I'm secretly hoping it's Kensington, overlooking Mission Valley. Click HERE to be magically transported to the San Diego Photo page and see the shot enlarged.

Yup, that's who came to town on October 7, 1962 to play the Chargers in Balboa Stadium, a game attended by Mike Linder '66. Mike also shared his San Diego Padres 1959 Junior Boosters Season Pass. Click HERE to see it all enlarged. Do you know what became of the Dallas Texans? Do you know the name of the 1959 Padres baseball park?
