I was all set to share this Far Side cartoon a while back, then Jane up and died and I thought it a little tacky
Turns out Jane LOVED the cartoon when it was first published and had it put on T-Shirts that she sold in the gift shop of the Jane Goodall Institute.
We've got our OWN Jane Goodall in Shirley Strum '65, who's conducted a long-term study of baboons and has a new book out. Click HERE for more information.
Bob Richardson sent me a 1960 photo of the Ziegenfuss Family when I mentioned the puzzling "Thank You" email I got from Fritz. Fritz turned 82 three days before me and I guess was "feeling the love." I've added this photo to the Ken Ziegenfuss Page. Click HERE find out which Ziegenfuss was in your class at Crawford.
The Clairemont Town Council History Committee asked
me to write an article about the old Rose Canyon Brickyard
(remember the Leaning Tower?) for the magazine handed out last
weekend at the community's 75th birthday party. Piece of cake!! I
stole it from my friend John Webster, edited it way down, and sent
it on in. Click HERE
to check it out AND get the link to John Websters WAY COOL Pacific

Going, going, gone -- or gone, gone, going. Last weekend's UT noted the passing of Salli Vining Sachse on September 8th. In 1961-- when I was 17 going on 12 -- Salli was Miss La Jolla, then Fairest of the Fair and often pictured in the newspaper with Don Diego (Tommy Hernandez). I mooned over her all summer. In later years I became friends with her sister Judy, but never met Salli. A few years ago (OK, 40) I got a call from a fellow who heard I was "THE GUY" From Crawford High. He wondered if I could put him in touch with a tall blonde Colt he had been friends with one summer at La Jolla Shores. I knew who he meant, contacted her first, and -- if memory serves -- reunited them. His name was James Tejada. Yup, Raquel's brother. Raquel passed away in 2023 at age 82. Finally, I hear that 91-year old Brigitte Bardot is in ill health. Well, she had a good run. Time marches on.
