Thanks for the memories in the song book! Times have sure changed - the songs were/are wonderful but would be considered very politically incorrect these days. We were lucky! Also, now I feel vindicated calling that critter "Smokey THE Bear". The official park ranger song on the back is thusly titled. So the next time someone tells me it is really Smokey Bear (no "the"), I will have someplace to point to!!
I taught a lot of thse songs; 1965-68 and 1971- 80 at sixth grade camps; Camp Marston, 65'-67, camp Davidson 67'-68 and camp Palomar 71-80. I still sing a few camp songs with children in the upper elementary when I substitute.
