I am officially OLD. I do not recognize a single name from this snippet in today's UT. I thought maybe it was Jerry Lewis, but I guess he's no longer with us. I DID see Rocky Horror Picture Show many years ago, however -- so I got that goin' for me.

Mike is the first Marine to serve as Superintendent of the Naval Academy. Nancy and I met him when he was still a Lieutenant Colonel at Camp Pendleton in 2010. Click HERE to see some photos.

Hessy Levinsohns Taft died on January 1st in San Francisco at age 91. As a child her photo won a contest to choose “the most beautiful Aryan baby” in Germany and was featured in Nazi propaganda. The photographer later said he knew she was Jewish and submitted the photo to make the Nazis look ridiculous. I love this story.

I wouldn’t call it schadenfreude (taking pleasure at another's misfortune) — or maybe I would. Wayne Zucker had every intention of letting me know LAST Fry Day was the birthday of my classmate Steve Penn, but it slipped through the cracks. Why should we care about Steve Penn’s birthday? He was born January 23, 1945. (Get it?)

I'm not sure if it's still up, but apparently they had a display at Crawford featuring alumni authors and painters. Click HERE to check it out.

I think this is Dhyana Baker Latta '60. Guess she decided to jazz up the spelling of her first name. My friend Tom convinced a cocktail waitress his name was spelled To3m, "but the 3 is silent" he assured her. "Really?" she replied. "Of course," he went on, "and if you look up "gullible" in the dictionary, you'll see John Fry's picture. "Really?" she said.
