Charlie Johnson and his Chum Salmon
How cold was it in Charlie Johnson's backyard in Montana? It was so cold he had to go to Alaska to get warm. Actually, the 11-day, 100-mile boat trip he took with his granddaughter was last summer. Click HERE to see a couple of great photos.

Jackson Elementary School: 1953 to 1959
I probably should have used one of Steve Cauthen's pictures since he's the one who's sharing his Jackson Elementary class photos, but William Braxton "Joe" Dyke was just too cute in his Cub Scout uniform. Click HERE to see all of the photos.

Talk Padres with Bill Center
I had to figure this out on my own, but -- apparently -- every Thursday at noon you can go on line and talk baseball with Union-Tribune writer Bill Center '63. I'm pretty sure you have to stick to baseball, so don't go asking him about how he aced Mr. Billings' Chemistry test or his date with Vicki AND Virginia Stack. (You KNOW I'm making this stuff up as I go along, don't you?) Well, not the part about chatting on-line with Bill about baseball. Click HERE -- and wait patiently until next Thursday at noon.
Crawford Foundation Fundraiser
The Crawford Foundation is sponsoring a fundraiser at the Panda Express on 58th and University on Wednesday November 17th from 11 AM to 9 PM. 20 percent of what you spend will go to the foundation -- but I'm pretty sure you have to show up with an official flier. Click HERE to download the flyer. If you can't figure out how to download it, email Victor Perez or Jana Glasgow Ditmars

San Diego Harbor: 1932 and 2010
Tuesday was so spectacular Nancy and I drove out to the Cabrillo Monument and she shot some pictures. When I saw the results I went to my USS Saratoga collection and pulled out a photo from 1932. I was surprised to see it was taken by our friend Lee Passmore, who some of you remember as the Tarantula Man. Click HERE to check out the results.
Horton's Variety & Hardware
Bob Richardson shares a photo from 1954 that's redolent of a Norman Rockwell painting -- AND wonders if any other folks have fond memories of Horton's Variety Store and building model airplanes. Click HERE to participate.
