I remember that store quite well - I loved it because it was so much better than the Rexall for cool stuff. I live very close to it now and often marvel at how small the building really is - it didn't seem that small when I was younger!!!
ReplyDeleteIn the late 1950's and early 60's, I lived on Estelle St. and 58th, which was right around the corner from Horton's. I loved that store and have vivid memories of using a magnet to fish for Coke bottlecaps from the machine that was right near the front door. (The company was running a contest where you could redeem a complete collection for some sort of prize.) I also recall buying Abba-Zaba candy bars from the rack of sweets available at the front counter...right next to the airplane glue, I think...
