For people who attended Crawford High School or would have attended if they hadn't
moved -- or just have fond memories of San Diego in the '40s, '50s and '60s.

Check out the Crawford High web site.

December 6, 2024

I LOVE this cartoon.  I think I ran it once before, with apologies to Mr. Weirather, my Algebra teacher at Horace Mann.

You need one of these?

I asked Debi Roel how she pronounced her last name.  She said they called her "Tootsie Roll" at Crawford.  Oh, by the way, Linda McGee Thomas enjoys the Fry Day emails, even though she graduated from Madison in 1968.  She "did the math".  Turns out she and Debi are both 39.  Who knew?

A Thanksgiving text from an old roommate sent me down a rabbit hole that went past Ernestine the Telephone Operator and ended up on Remington Road.  Click HERE if you want the REST of the story.

Curses! What did Holliday Family cows on the beach in La Jolla have to do with Fry Family ducks in the yard in Normal Heights? Nothing, it turns out, but if you click HERE you can how I was led astray.

This image popped up on Facebook this week, supposedly a Jack-in-the-Box in San Diego.  There isn't much that would help identify the location, save a possible gas station in the background.  Anyway, the '63 Chevy implies that it was a drive-thru of our vintage.

Thought you might enjoy this box score from December 2, 1959 -- 65 years ago.  I'm pretty sure Larry Willis and Fritz Ziegenfuss both went on to coach high school hoops in San Diego.
