For people who attended Crawford High School or would have attended if they hadn't
moved -- or just have fond memories of San Diego in the '40s, '50s and '60s.

Check out the Crawford High web site.

November 10, 2023

This would be the appropriate weekend to revisit the Colts Who Served in the Military page.

November 10th is the birthday of the United States Marine Corps.  They are apparently the only service that has no trouble meeting their recruitment goals.  If they DID need to, it's fun to note that if you are suffering a hangover November 11th is always a day off -- unless you've got guard duty or something.

This may be a Catholic joke.  I'm not sure.

Phil Capp '61 made the Sunday edition of the Union Tribune.  Click HERE for a bigger picture with a caption.

A gaggle of Campus Lab School 6th Graders from 1963 once again got together at Lake Poway.  Click HERE for details and names.

Jelinda Kasmaier '62 had a party -- and I wasn't invited?  It's just as well.  I was probably busy working on my Revell B-36 plastic bomber kit.  Click HERE to see an enlargement of the invitation received by Dietra Anderson.

This week's Joe Courtney color photo from the '50s looks east on Broadway from the U. S. Grant Hotel.  Click HERE for a larger view.

Here's a similar shot, taken in March 1969, by Bob Stewart.  I don't know who he is, but his photos from the '60s are popping up on Facebook.  Click HERE for an enlargement.  I believe I once purchased a suit at Lion's Clothing.

Click HERE to read the 6-page Pacer from November 3, 1972.  I had hoped to share it last week, but the folks at FedEx (formerly Kinko's) took WAY too long to make reductions for me.

This'll be my last Witch Cartoon for a while.   I couldn't resist Gary Larson's take on Zelda's Gingerbread Cottage.

'69 Classmates Karen Smith Takizawa and Sharon Whitley Larsen, friends since 4th grade, pose for a photo in Tokyo on October 19th.  Click HERE for a larger photo and the rest of the story.

James Daigh '64, known at Crawford as James Weetman, has a book out about his 3 years in the Arctic with the United States Air Force.  Click HERE to take a look on Amazon.

The Joe Courtney photos just keep coming.  Recognize this lonely stretch of University Avenue?  Click HERE for an enlargement and some other photos from the neighborhood taken around 1953.

I've added a couple of Joe's photos to the Hillcrest Sears page.  Click HERE to take a look.

And I've added a 1954 KFMB Channel 8 video to the Frontier Housing page.  It shows one of the homes on its way to Tijuana, Mexico.  Click HERE and look for the link.

He didn't exactly say he'd been in therapy, but David Morgan '71 is now able to talk about what he went through trying to secure the recipes from Don Jose's restaurant when it went out of business.  Click HERE and scroll down to Ruth's Salsa Recipe.

Jim Dyke '66 shares his Kindergarten class photo from Andrew Jackson.  Click HERE to see it enlarged.

Dietra Davis Anderson saved her program from the 1960 production of Annie Get Your Gun.   Click HERE to check it out.

Lynn Lovette Gambardello '62 passed away September 14, 2023. She is survived by her husband and classmate Joe Gambardello.  Click HERE to read the wonderful remembrance passed out at her Celebration of Life.  Looks like she achieved her goal of becoming a Cosmetologist.
