For people who attended Crawford High School or would have attended if they hadn't
moved -- or just have fond memories of San Diego in the '40s, '50s and '60s.

Check out the Crawford High web site.

Knights of the Round Table

Remember the Egyptian Garage?  You've been by it hundreds of times, I'll bet.  (Hint:  it was across the street from the Silverado Ballroom on Euclid and University).  OK, maybe it wasn't still a garage in your day.  Click HERE for a larger view and some other pictures.

Sure, you've seen the pesky critters digging in the trash, but have you ever found one asleep in a tree in your backyard?   Ernie Cowan has, and took a photo for proof.  Click HERE to read the story.

The August 17th Beach & Bay Press has an article entitled "One man helps keep Pacific Beach Historical Society alive."  Hey, wait -- that's me!  Click HERE to read the article.

Gary Bright '66 sends in a photo of himself in the U S Air Force in Southeast Asia in 1969.  Click HERE to learn more.

Remember matches, and ash trays, and cigarettes -- and Oscar's Drive-Ins?  I've done some updating and rearranging.  Click HERE to peruse the Oscar's Page

David "Spence" Milne '60 passed away August 7, 2023.  I couldn't find an obituary.

Rose Anna Sardo Floquet '70 also died on August 7th, and I haven't got an obituary

This is dark humor at Gary Larson's best.  Of course, if you don't know the story of Amelia Earhart's ill-fated 'round-the-world attempt, you won't get it.

Lynn DeWoskin Covarubbias '66 had a nice piece in last Friday's Union-Tribune.  She talks about what caring for her mother and other family members taught her over the years.  Click HERE to read the article.

Buckle-up -- this could get confusing.  Eric Watkins '65 sends word of a recent article in the Washington Post Sports Section by Frederic Frommer.  Frommer writes about baseball umpire Ron Luciano, quoting from his book The Umpire Strikes Back.  Luciano confesses that, in later years, when he had trouble squatting down, he would let the catcher make the call.  Ed Herrmann '64 (that's him above) is one of the catchers Luciano mentions.  Click HERE to take a look.

Scott Shaw '68 has a book out.  It's 335 pages of cartoons and comics, including a few pieces from Oak Park, Horace Mann and Crawford High.  Click HERE to get the details and/or make a purchase on Amazon.

My '62 classmate Walter Hindenlang shares a photo of himself in uniform.  Click HERE to get the details

Remember when the Navy parked its ships in the middle of the harbor?  Click HERE if you'd like to see this photo enlarged.

If this looks like something you'd like to participate in, get back to me and I'll send you the appropriate contact information.

Gary Juleen shares a snapshot of himself and Pee Wee Herman, who died last week.

I just uncovered this notice, signed by my counselor Emma B. Leisure, that I had qualified for Honors History and Honors English.  Click HERE to see my comments, and a snippet about Mrs. Leisure's son David.

Dan Burton '64 forwards a pretty snappy photo of Charlie Company in Vietnam.  Click HERE to revisit the Colts Who Served in Vietnam page and to learn whose booze is fake.

Jim Dyke '66 shares a photo of Uncle Russ and his parakeet, which might not be a parakeet.  Click HERE to take another look at the Uncle Russ page.

My classmate Greg Birch recalls some pleasant memories of working for Katie at Andy's Cafe.  Click HERE to read his recollections.

I've snipped out a section of this week's UT prep football predictions.

I don't know if we've seen this before, but the Classic San Diego Restaurants web site has a Don Jose's page that has borrowed heavily from my page, but they've added a couple of their own photos as well as a nice story about the restaurant's origin.  Click HERE for their page and click HERE for mine.

The Sears Hillcrest page kind of turned into a Mr. Olive page.  Click HERE to read some more letters and to see a larger image of the fish Carl Spier made in wood shop.

Johnny Downs sent me down a Rabbit Hole.  Click HERE to see his page again.

I'm still trying to figure out who Johnny Jet was.  I ended up creating a separate page for "Uncle Russ" Plummer.  Click HERE to check it out.

I've done some editing on the Monte Hall page.  Click HERE to revisit it.
