moved -- or just have fond memories of San Diego in the '40s, '50s and '60s.

The Clanton Gang is coming!!

I know it looks like a Hollywood set, but this 1895 photo was taken on the main street of a now bustling San Diego County city. Click HERE for the enlargement -- and a chance to actually read the name of the town on a building.

Songs of Camp Palomar

Dietra Anderson Davis '62 forwards her Camp Palomar songbook, circa -- I assume -- 1956. All together now: "See him there, the Zulu warrior; See him there, the Zulu Chief, Chief, Chief." Click HERE to revisit the best times of your life -- or the worst.

Oscar's Drive-In

Fred Dickson '61 may be the 100th well-intentioned person to send me the "San Diego In The Good Old Days" email. I always scroll through just in case there's something I haven't seen. The anonymous author of this email has pilfered a couple of Oscar's images off of my web site. I thought this was a good excuse to take another look at the Oscar's menus. Click HERE for the 1952 menu and HERE for the menu at left.

Isn't that Kathy Najimy?

Linda Scheider Crawford '75 thinks the girl in the top row, second from the left, in the Euclid Elementary photos sent in by Virginia Wick Hagins '75 is their classmate and star of Sister Act and other Hollywood productions. Click HERE to take another look, although the enlargement at the left gives you a better view.

Crawford Facebook Site

Victor Perez '71 has established a Facebook site for the Crawford Alumni Association. Some folks say they've used it successfully to find old school chums. Victor's got his hands full, however. Says he's had to block eight people for nudity, pictures of drug use, and dropping the "F-Bomb". Click on Facebook to check it out.

Class of '64 Luncheon

Bob Lawrence has given Nancy and I a one-time '64 Waiver to attend the '64 Luncheon at Lido's in Lemon Grove on July 28th. Email Bob at RobertLawrence@cox.net and see if he'll let YOU come. Click HERE to check out Lido's web site. Read CAREFULLY -- the 1959 prices are for comparison only.

It's NOT Annette Funicello?

When I saw your photos last week I thought, YIKES -- John thinks he's got Annette and Frankie there. Who am I to ruin the spell? Those truly were "Happy Days" in which we learned to dance with a doorknob and American Bandstand. We loved cruising drive-ins on Friday nights and thought we were going to live forever. Ted Hazlewood was my brother Jim's best friend. His entire family even came to my mother's funeral a few years ago -- Sharon Mass '61

Tedderball?

Jim Mass was in my wedding and we were good friends from junior high at Horace Mann all the way through high school. We were also neighbors in the Oak Park area off of Redwood St. The picture of Sharon was given to me by her. She and her mother used to call me Tedderball. We were good family friends. Here's another view of my '40 Ford -- Ted Hazlewood '63

Dudley Mills' 1940 Ford

Dudley Mills '59 thinks this photo was taken at a park near Crawford. He got rid of the car when Dominic Bonjorno '60 made him an offer he couldn't refuse (if you know what I mean). Click HERE to go to the Cars We Drove To School Page

Ted Hazlewood's 1940 Ford

Ted Hazlewood '63 says this '40 Ford is the car he drove to school. He's now of the opinion that the pants may have come from Salvation Army. Click HERE to see the Cars We Drove To School Page.
